Sunday mornings The Secret to Success #4 March 14th 2010
Promise/Plague
Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven
We have been looking at the keys to unlocking the Abundance that God has for us.
1. The first and most important key is our Priorities.
Decide what is most important in your life.
Matthew 6:33 seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
2. The second key is Persistence.
Persistence declares that our initial action must be repeated.
We must develop a pattern of behavior.
Galatians 5:7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?
3. The third Key is Perseverance.
Over time our repeated efforts are not just added to each other but are actually multiplied.
Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Which key is most important? I believe that all of them are necessary to find success. Its an equation. Your question is like asking if 2+2=4 which number or symbol is the most important? Which one of them can you do without? NONE; THEY ARE ALL NECESSARY
Today I want to share the 4th key to achieving your Success.
4. The fourth Key is Promise or Plague
“Well, make up your mind. Which is it, pastor?” That is entirely up to you and me. God has given us the responsibility to choose which we will have in my life.
God said in Duet. 28:2 2All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God.
Joshua said in Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Elijah said in I Kings 18:21Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”
Today in your hearing I say Choose. Claim the promises not the plagues. Choose the Abundance of God’s blessing not it’s Absence.
Live in His wealth and not in the Devils Want.
Drink deeply from the springs of His abundance, Place yourselves directly under the windows of heaven under the spout where the glory comes out.
Psalms 34:8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
The formula for success is;
Right Decisions, Made Repeatedly,
Over Time, = Success
But how do you do this? How do you make the move from setting in a church service like this to applying these principles in the real world in which you and I have to live?
Remember the 3 contributing factors in obtaining our Abundance
1. What We Do.
2. Blessing Ground.
3. God’s Supernatural Intervention.
#2 has been predetermined by God, set in the Bible
#3 is at God’s discretion, but #1 is left up to you and me.
John 13:17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
Romans 4:17b The God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.
Visualize it I’ve got to see it.
Verbalize it I’ve got to talk about it.
Vitalize it I’ve got to do what I can to give it life by working on it with all my abilities
2 Qualifying verses to consider
James 4:2b “You do not have, because you do not ask God.” and
3 “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”
And now the how to….
Visualize it Write it down
Physical need
Financial need
Spiritual need
Relationship need
Verbalize it Talk to God (and others) about it.
Vitalize it Work on it with all your abilities.
John 13:17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
When will you be blessed, when you know or do? When you Do
James 1:22-25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.
